The Cisco QSFP-DD Pluggable Open Line System (QDD OLS) is an advanced optical amplifier transceiver designed to simplify and enhance long-distance optical networking. Built in a compact QSFP-DD form factor, it integrates full open line system functionality directly into routers, eliminating the need for external optical amplifiers and reducing infrastructure complexity.
This innovative module combines pre-amplifier and booster EDFA technology, enabling extended transmission reach beyond traditional limits while supporting multi-channel DWDM deployments. It is a key component of Cisco’s Routed Optical Networking (RON) architecture, delivering scalable, cost-efficient, and high-performance optical transport.
Ideal for telecom providers, data centers, and enterprise networks, the QDD OLS allows seamless deployment of up to 32-channel optical systems with improved fiber utilization, reduced power consumption, and simplified network design
